People Are Defending Jennifer Lopez After She Was Brutally Dragged For Taking A Two-Hour Commercial Flight

After Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner were called “climate criminals” for flying private, Jennifer Lopez is being widely mocked for taking a two-hour commercial flight.

It is fair to say that 2024 hasn’t been the best year for Jennifer Lopez.

Back in February, the star was mercilessly roasted following the release of This Is Me... Now: A Love Story, a movie accompaniment to her latest album. A subsequent making-of documentary then only fueled the scrutiny.


Then, in May, it was reported that Jen’s relationship with Ben Affleck, whom she wed in 2022, is on the rocks. 


Though neither Jen nor Ben have commented on the growing speculation around their marriage, it has been suggested that they are “living separate lives” and “quietly” trying to sell their marital home.


At the end of May, Jennifer’s This Is Me… Live Tour was canceled less than a month before it was due to kick off following reports of low ticket sales. In a statement, Jennifer said that she was “completely heartsick and devastated” to have let fans down.

And less than a month later, Jen has faced widespread ridicule after she was pictured flying commercial for a two-hour-and-twenty-minute flight from Naples to Paris.

Alongside the shady headline “Jenny from the cabin!!!” TMZ published a photo of the star minding her business while occupying the window seat of her row, with a bodyguard taking the aisle. 


Suffice to say, it didn’t take long for the picture to go viral, with many people reacting by joking about Jen’s finances and accusing her of trying to seem "relatable."


Commenting on TMZ’s Instagram post about the story, one person wrote: “Dats crazy. Commercial. And you a millionaire 😂😂😂😂” 


“Lol guess those ticket sales hurt her pockets,” somebody else jibed. One more claimed: “the way she craves attention and does this ridiculous acts its embarrassing.”


“PR team working overtime trying to make seem relatable 😂” somebody else echoed, while another user wrote: “Oh please!! This is just to pretend she is humble!! But naaaah! We know we know, SHE IS NOT.”

Over on X, one user posted a screenshot of TMZ’s headline and the photo of Jen in a viral tweet that simply reads: “IM FUCKING CRYING.” It has been seen more than 12 million times since it was shared on Tuesday, and gained tens of thousands of likes and retweets.

But in the quote tweets, many have jumped to Jennifer’s defense and questioned why so many appear to be reveling in the opportunity to mock her — especially as other stars have recently faced heavy criticism for flying private instead of commercial.


This includes the likes of Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner, who have been called “climate criminals” for using their private jets for incredibly short journeys.


One person asked: “when celebrities fly private they’re killing the planet and when they fly commercial they’re made fun of for being ‘broke’ so what do y’all really want from them?”


“this world we live in where no one can do anything right is wild, if she took a private jet she’s destroying the planet and if she flies commercial she’s suddenly poor and over? exhausting,” another agreed.


“y’all flame celebrities for using private jets and then make fun of them for flying commercial,” one more echoed. Somebody else tweeted: “if she takes a private jet, she's harming the planet and if she flies commercial, she's seen as poor?? y'all's hate for jlo is too forced at this point.”

While another user wrote: “So if she’s too rich, we hate her because she’s acting too rich but she suddenly rides a normal flight, does a human thing, and yall still hating??? What the fuck do y’all want from JLo.”

Somebody else questioned: “I’m sorry but what the fuck did jlo do for everyone to dogpile on her like this?”


The OP of the original tweet later wrote a follow-up insisting that they were actually just "crying" over TMZ's headline, not Jen flying commercial. 


Another popular tweet responding to the growing J.Lo hate train reads: “The mass Jennifer Lopez hate is one of the clearest examples of online mob mentality. People don’t know why they hate her they just know others do and dumping on her is an easy crowd pleaser. Now we’re at a point where she’s being mocked for taking a commercial flight.”


Jennifer has not publicly responded to the discourse that her commercial flight has sparked, but we will let you know if she does!
